In the 97th minute of the match Switzerland got a corner. Brazil's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Irwin Wermuth ran over to the corner to take the kick. Rico Meier was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Brazil had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
