If Yan Mattos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 21 minutes, Serginho Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Futbol Capuchinho Fratelo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Serginho Nascimento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 24 minutes into the match, EXCELSIOR FC's goal looked a bit too open when Yan Mattos came free, but Cássio Mello reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. EXCELSIOR FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jonas Negri in the 31st minute. The corner led EXCELSIOR FC's Jonas Negri to fire away a dangerous shot which Clemente Goiano despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gino Silva during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Futbol Capuchinho Fratelo getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Gino Silva hit a great ball. Alessandro Amaral missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 43 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Clemente Goiano right hand side. If Léo Rosado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Yan Mattos to strike the kick off in the second half. After 59 played minutes Futbol Capuchinho Fratelo got a freekick which was hit by Serginho Nascimento. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Léo Rosado managed to get in a good position for a shot. EXCELSIOR FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Léo Rosado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Clemente Goiano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 63rd minute of the match, Léo Rosado got a very nice opportunity to score, but Clemente Goiano was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Clemente Goiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremias de Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Túlio Correia hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Clemente Goiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeremias de Azevedo in the 77th minute of the match. Jeremias de Azevedo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clemente Goiano having to interfere. Clemente Goiano acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 88th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Romeu de Amaral. If Yan Mattos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The EXCELSIOR FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing EXCELSIOR FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
