I have given all national teams in MZ Hockey a (start) rating, based upon history when I did this last time and then ran this Elo through all current matches (last 6 months basically) to get an accurate start rating. For the active teams (who played any matches last 6 months or so) the average rating is 1300 I think. A value of 1500 does not mean anything alone. But it means a lot when it is compared to others, as it is all about the difference in rating that matters. If the rating is sound, this is the probability table for a team to win against others: [b]Rating diff / Probability to win (including draw)[/b] 800 1,0% 750 1,3% 700 1,8% 650 2,3% 600 3,1% 550 4,1% 500 5,3% 450 7,0% 400 9,1% 350 11,8% 300 15,1% 250 19,2% 200 24,0% 150 29,7% 100 36,0% 50 42,9% 0 50,0% -50 57,2% -100 64,0% -150 70,3% -200 76,0% -250 80,8% -300 84,9% -350 88,2% -400 90,9% -450 93,0% -500 94,7% -550 96,0% -600 96,9% -650 97,7% -700 98,3% -750 98,7% -800 99,0% Example: If you play with a team rated 1500pts against a 1400pts team, you will win 64% of the matches including half o the draws. Draw = half win. W-D-L % would be roughly 59-10-31 % if we think the chance of draw is 10%. W-D-L % would be roughly 59-10-31 % if we think the chance of draw is 10%. One day I might check this draw statistics as I can use club team elo with 200000+ matches to get the exact odds for draw, which most likely is depending on the rating difference.
