Palestra Itália EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Naldo Tasso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gugu de Almeida sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pederneiras Youth Academy's Miguel Bittencourt proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Pederneiras Youth Academy from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilton Sergipano in the 18th minute of play forced Pederneiras Youth Academy's goalkeeper Miguel Bittencourt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wilton Sergipano was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 19th minute. Palestra Itália EC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Wilton Sergipano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luís Fabiano Paes during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After having played for 26 minutes, Mané Rezende managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pederneiras Youth Academy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mané Rezende was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Miguel Bittencourt came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by Palestra Itália EC's Naldo Tasso. But to his dismay, Naldo Tasso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. If Naldo Tasso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudinho Recife to make the kick off. Miguel Bittencourt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Naldo Tasso, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After a rather tough play, Pederneiras Youth Academy's Marquinhos Barral got a free kick in the 53rd minute. Wilton Sergipano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Claudinho Recife sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Olavo Dante kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. When Palestra Itália EC's Naldo Tasso in the 70th minute got a chance for a shot 70th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Tião Pinheiro lost his temper 90 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 96 minutes into the match, Pederneiras Youth Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Wilton Sergipano came free, but Miguel Bittencourt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Naldo Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Bittencourt having to interfere. 101 minutes into the game, Palestra Itália EC's Luís Fabiano Paes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Miguel Bittencourt made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Palestra Itália EC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
