Rodrigo de Souza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 21st minute, Luís Fernando Cardoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Alexsandro Melo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joaquim Gaúcho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Corinthians booed when Ferraz FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ediberto de Godoi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alexsandro Melo made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Diamantino Quadros sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Erasmo Brasil during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Flávio Fonseca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Corinthians's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
