Alvaro Parada showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Misael Cerna, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Honduras's zone, Ronald Alvarenga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alvaro Parada came out of the goal and Ronald Alvarenga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Misael Cerna in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alvaro Parada prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alvaro Parada took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Misael Cerna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute of the match Guatemala got a corner. Honduras's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Josue Cabrera ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 86th minute, Misael Cerna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Guatemala fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. After 92 played minutes Honduras got a freekick which was hit by Rafael Erazo. Alvaro Parada showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronald Alvarenga in the 94th minute of the match. Félix Escobar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 95th minute of the match, but Cesar Batres made a huge save. 96 minutes had been played when some careless play by Guatemala's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Felipe Berrueta was slow to take the kick. During this time Honduras's players had a chance to rest.
