Netherlands's Tadej Pogačar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tor-Egil Sollien in the 12th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Frenkie de Jong's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kjell Trengereid was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Damien Bakker hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Tadej Pogačar was a little too slow when Emil Berntzen got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 19th minute. Kjell Trengereid made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guus Harmsen in the 29th minute of play. Tor-Egil Sollien fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tadej Pogačar having to interfere. After having played for 36 minutes, Guus Harmsen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guus Harmsen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 38 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Tadej Pogačar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tor-Egil Sollien. In the 43rd minute, Norway's Emil Berntzen ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tadej Pogačar. Tadej Pogačar yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Kjell Trengereid took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frenkie de Jong, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Emil Berntzen made a kick off. Kjell Trengereid made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frenkie de Jong in the 55th minute of play. Frenkie de Jong in the 56thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Kjell Trengereid, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guus Harmsen in the 62nd minute of play forced Norway's goalkeeper Kjell Trengereid to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Guus Harmsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Norway was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nils Støle didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kjell Trengereid acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 69th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Frenkie de Jong. Tadej Pogačar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tor-Egil Sollien in the 74th minute of the match. Guus Heijen's late challenge caught a Norway's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Guus Heijen helped the player get up and apologised. Netherlands's Marco Hegeman was substituted for Robin Boelens. In the 82nd minute Marinus Doren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kjell Trengereid saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th minute, Steinar Flo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee felt a red card was in order, 92 minutes into the game, when Bjarte Paul put in a rough tackle. Norway:s Kjell Trengereid showed great skill when he stopped Frenkie de Jong:s penalty. 93 minutes into the match, Frenkie de Jong notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Norway's Kjell Trengereid. Kjell Trengereid was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
