Borussia Dortmund's Mathias Laborda managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Herbert Hök in the 15 minute of the game. The supporters of Borussia Dortmund booed when Solskin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Herbert Hök didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Solskin's zone, Greger von Opel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kennet Kullander came out of the goal and Greger von Opel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Solskin's goalkeeper Kennet Kullander, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 24th minute, Tomas Levander hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee ignored Borussia Dortmund's protests and gave Zbyszko Kapinos a yellow card for diving instead. Zbyszko Kapinos kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. When the match was over Borussia Dortmund could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Solskin throughout the match.
