When the match clock showed 5 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Martin Rana sped through Peru's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Calixto Inchaurdi. 8 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Ditlev Delmont came free, but Calixto Inchaurdi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 12th minute of the match, Svend Betz got a very nice opportunity to score, but Calixto Inchaurdi was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Denmark's Kasper Schmeichel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Cassaretto in the 13th minute of play. Calixto Inchaurdi made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Svend Betz sent off a good shot on target. 15 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Calixto Inchaurdi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Svend Betz. A hard shot 16 in the game by Svend Betz from a close distance when the talented Calixto Inchaurdi managed to make a qualified save. Peru's players were relieved. With his leg Calixto Inchaurdi managed to avoid a goal in the 18thth minute, when Denmark's Svend Betz fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 24th match minute, Denmark was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Randy Bastard to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Peru defense, Martin Rana kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Calixto Inchaurdi. The Peru fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Calixto Inchaurdi should have stopped the shot. Calixto Inchaurdi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ditlev Delmont in the 30th minute of the match. If Enrique Cassaretto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Kasper Schmeichel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enrique Cassaretto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kasper Schmeichel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enrique Cassaretto, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Calixto Inchaurdi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martin Rana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Calixto Inchaurdi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Svend Betz in the 58th minute of play. Buster Desting hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Svend Betz in the 64th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Calixto Inchaurdi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Denmark's Kasper Schmeichel got control of the ball when Enrique Cassaretto tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 78th minute, Blasi Asas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Peru's Tulio Andinyach was substituted for Marino Pacheco. Martin Rana's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Calixto Inchaurdi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 83rd minute of play. Calixto Inchaurdi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martin Rana in the 91st minute of play. After 95 played minutes Denmark got a freekick which was hit by Andreas Maxsø. There was no doubt that Denmark were the better team. Denmark's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
