The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 2 played minutes Diamante Negro DK - VV got a freekick which was hit by Alessandro de Moraes. Angelo Linares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 7 minutes into the match, Sprite Star Football's Gonçalo Loyola sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Pedro Alvarenga narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alexi Lalas hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. João Pedro Alvarenga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gonçalo Loyola in the 13th minute of the match. In the 18th minute of the match, Doni Fonseca tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Betão Paraíba saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Gonçalo Loyola came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Sprite Star Football fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gonçalo Loyola couldn't finish the play. When Hamílton Cardozo fell near the penalty area in the 21st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Diamante Negro DK - VV's protests and gave Hamílton Cardozo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 22nd minute, Hamílton Cardozo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. João Pedro Alvarenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gonçalo Loyola in the 25th minute of play. Billy Servaes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Betão Paraíba made a huge save. With his leg Betão Paraíba managed to avoid a goal in the 34thth minute, when Diamante Negro DK - VV's Nicolas Alves fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Diamante Negro DK - VV's João Pedro Alvarenga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Angelo Linares in the 41st minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nicolas Alves stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Diamante Negro DK - VV's goalkeeper João Pedro Alvarenga had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Angelo Linares. João Pedro Alvarenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jean da Silva in the 55th minute of play. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sprite Star Football's goalkeeper Betão Paraíba, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Diamante Negro DK - VV's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Alexsandro Albuquerque in the 66th minute. A nice corner shot did that Alexsandro Albuquerque got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Betão Paraíba quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With a little luck, Diamante Negro DK - VV's João Pedro Alvarenga got control of the ball when Jean da Silva tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 79th match minute, Diamante Negro DK - VV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Billy Servaes to maneuver through the defense. Betão Paraíba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexsandro Albuquerque, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The nice shot from Angelo Linares in the 88thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but João Pedro Alvarenga had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. The supporters of Diamante Negro DK - VV booed when Sprite Star Football was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leandro da Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alexi Lalas's late challenge caught a Diamante Negro DK - VV's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alexi Lalas helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Sprite Star Football getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Alexi Lalas hit a great ball. Diamante Negro DK - VV's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
