After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 63rd minute, Atletico Katamon's Regino Galdames seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Regino Galdames the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Atletico Katamon protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Regino Galdames had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonatán Asendegui in the 86th minute of play forced Atletico Katamon's goalkeeper Orlando Villalón to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
