But to his dismay, Aloísio da Mata quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Flamengo CRF's Jaime Vaz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Sampaio in the 27th minute of play. Aloísio da Mata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lukasz Furgal having to interfere. Lukasz Furgal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nilson de Castro in the 34th minute of play. A collision led to Chelsea getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Dé Macedo hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

55 minutes into the match, Aloísio da Mata notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Chelsea's Lukasz Furgal. Lukasz Furgal was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Aloísio da Mata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Lukasz Furgal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 68th match minute, Chelsea was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tarcisio Paes to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 69 minutes, Aloísio da Mata managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Flamengo CRF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aloísio da Mata was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aloísio da Mata got free with Lukasz Furgal in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Aloísio da Mata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Lukasz Furgal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nilson de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 91 minutes, Nilson de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The supporters of Flamengo CRF booed when Chelsea was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tarcisio Paes didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nilson de Castro in the 95th minute of play forced Chelsea's goalkeeper Lukasz Furgal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
