The supporters of Synthroid Football Club booed when Petróleo EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simão Vaz didn't get a good kick on the ball. José Maria Ramos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Caetano Pitta having to make a save. José Maria Ramos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Caetano Pitta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Petróleo EC's goal looked a bit too open when Breno Vieira came free, but Juninho Tinoco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Simão Vaz during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. During the 19th minute of the match Simão Vaz completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Simão Vaz a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Cristóvão Corrêa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Caetano Pitta having to make a save. In the 28th match minute, Petróleo EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Francisco Freitas to maneuver through the defense. If Dida Koehler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristóvão Corrêa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Caetano Pitta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Petróleo EC's João Paulo Marinho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Caetano Pitta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Cristian Carioca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When João Paulo Marinho came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Petróleo EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Paulo Marinho couldn't finish the play. João Paulo Marinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Juninho Tinoco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Breno Vieira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristóvão Corrêa struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Caetano Pitta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Petróleo EC. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Breno Vieira made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Breno Vieira made a precise shot to the right of Juninho Tinoco. Petróleo EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Juninho Tinoco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edvaldo Urbano in the 55th minute of play. Caetano Pitta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristóvão Corrêa in the 58th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Maria Ramos got free with Caetano Pitta in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcel Marquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Caetano Pitta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Juninho Tinoco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edvaldo Urbano, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. José Maria Ramos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Petróleo EC's Cristóvão Corrêa got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. João Paulo Marinho kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. In the 79th minute, Cristóvão Corrêa fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Alfredinho Zonta's late challenge caught a Petróleo EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alfredinho Zonta helped the player get up and apologised. After 79 played minutes Synthroid Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Alfredinho Zonta. In the 80th minute, Alfredinho Zonta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cristóvão Corrêa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. José Maria Ramos was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 85th minute. Petróleo EC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. If João Paulo Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Carioca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caetano Pitta having to interfere. In the 91st minute, José Maria Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 92nd minute, a hard, long distance shot from Ivo Favoretto hit the top of the crossbar and flew over the goal. In the 95th minute Breno Vieira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juninho Tinoco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Synthroid Football Club players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
