Valdir Damião was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Gonçalo Luz showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-2 in the 30 minute of play. Valdir Damião acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 34th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Acácio Moreira. Gonçalo Luz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Catesporo AD defense, Hernani Rocha kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of César Meirelles. The Catesporo AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that César Meirelles should have stopped the shot. Nestor Maia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without César Meirelles having to interfere. Valdir Damião was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Valdir Damião showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jairo Tepedino, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hernani Rocha got free with César Meirelles in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
