The crowd rose to their feet as Rawdon FC's Peter Smith slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Mateo Romo. That made the score 1-0 after 8 minutes of play. In the 11th minute Richard Herlin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mateo Romo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mateo Romo came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by Rawdon FC's Reinaldo Varela. But to his dismay, Reinaldo Varela quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. After some careless play in the Gomersal AFC defense, Tobiasz Karaszkiewicz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mateo Romo. The Gomersal AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mateo Romo should have stopped the shot. Tobiasz Karaszkiewicz's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 20thth minute, Mateo Romo skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 46th minute, Peter Smith left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rawdon FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 7-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 7-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Gomersal AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Richard Herlin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 12-0.
