Santiago Cañizares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Apoena Ocaña, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. In the 6th minute of the match, Apoena Ocaña tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Santiago Cañizares saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivan Rubio in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nevada Silvestre prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 11 minutes into the match, Foguera's goalkeeper Santiago Cañizares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Humberto Leon. Santiago Cañizares made an important save on a dangerous shot by Humberto Leon in the 12th minute. After 15 minutes Foguera's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Zumar Figueroa who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Rayo Tharkad's corner Gai Izaguirre fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Santiago Cañizares quite easily take care of the ball. If Manolo Lacorte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manolo Lacorte could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Santiago Cañizares made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet as Manolo Lacorte kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Santiago Cañizares. That made the score 1-0 in the 26 minute of play. Santiago Cañizares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Apoena Ocaña in the 30th minute of play. In the 33rd minute, David Villa made a precise shot to the right of Nevada Silvestre. Rayo Tharkad's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. In the 36th minute, Ivan Rubio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nevada Silvestre took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan Rubio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ivan Rubio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nevada Silvestre read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. In the 48th minute Apoena Ocaña shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Cañizares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Rayo Tharkad's Maurino Marcos was substituted for Feliciano Roig. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for David Villa to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Apoena Ocaña shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Cañizares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rayo Tharkad's Hector Dorado was substituted for Salbatore Fuentes. After a rather tough play, Rayo Tharkad's Gilesindo Alonso got a free kick in the 64th minute. In the 66th minute, Ivan Rubio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 69 minutes into the match, Rayo Tharkad's goal looked a bit too open when Ivan Rubio came free, but Nevada Silvestre reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Apoena Ocaña in the 72nd minute of play forced Foguera's goalkeeper Santiago Cañizares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Rayo Tharkad's Hondo Arratia in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Foguera's goalie prevented a goal. In the 76th minute Apoena Ocaña shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santiago Cañizares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nevada Silvestre made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Ivan Rubio sent off a good shot on target. Foguera made a substitution. Santiago Serra replaced Kai Rønne. Foguera's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Hugo Guillamon in the 83rd minute. After taking down the ball on Foguera's corner Hugo Guillamon fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Nevada Silvestre quite easily take care of the ball. 89 minutes into the match, Foguera's goal looked a bit too open when Apoena Ocaña came free, but Santiago Cañizares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Santiago Cañizares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hondo Arratia's shot from short distance in the 90th minute. In the 90thth minute of the game Hondo Arratia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Foguera's Santiago Cañizares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 93rd minute, David Villa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rayo Tharkad's Antimo Negro was substituted for Manolo Lacorte. In the 97th match minute, Rayo Tharkad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zumar Figueroa to maneuver through the defense. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
