The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Yan Yu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. Ilie Slătineanu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. FC Iecēni's Piotr Tworek played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pavel Tankovich in the 9th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, FC Nereta's goal looked a bit too open when Marek Hamšík came free, but Muammer Taşcıoğlu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Muammer Taşcıoğlu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viesturs Pilāns in the 15th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marek Hamšík in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Muammer Taşcıoğlu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 24th match minute, FC Nereta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Santos Cerilo to maneuver through the defense. Piotr Tworek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pavel Tankovich, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. When Ilie Slătineanu, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 47 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Piotr Tworek was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ilie Slătineanu made a kick off. Piotr Tworek made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ilie Slătineanu in the 51st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pavel Tankovich in the 54th minute of play forced FC Iecēni's goalkeeper Piotr Tworek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Olafs Buncis during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Olafs Buncis hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Piotr Tworek showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ilie Slătineanu in the 75th minute of the match. After having played for 77 minutes, Pavel Tankovich managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Nereta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pavel Tankovich was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Muammer Taşcıoğlu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viesturs Pilāns in the 78th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leons Gudrenieks in the 80th minute of play forced FC Nereta's goalkeeper Muammer Taşcıoğlu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Muammer Taşcıoğlu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marek Hamšík in the 83rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ilie Slătineanu in the 85th minute of play forced FC Iecēni's goalkeeper Piotr Tworek to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FC Nereta were awarded a corner in the 90th minute after FC Iecēni's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Felix Schuhmacher took the corner. In the 92nd match minute, FC Iecēni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pauls Popens to maneuver through the defense. After 93 minutes of play, FC Nereta's Pavel Tankovich made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Piotr Tworek was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The FC Nereta fans cheered their team off the field, for while FC Iecēni had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
