Noviscky's defense didn't have a chance, in the 9th minute, when Zé Leal scored to the left of an out of position Ian Abbott, making the score, 1-0. With a little luck, Noviscky's Ian Abbott got control of the ball when Sílvio Lucas tried to sneak it across the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, Tiago Esteves dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ian Abbott, 2-0. Zé Paulo Pombal in the 19thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ian Abbott, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 21st minute, Sílvio Lucas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ian Abbott was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. In the 25th minute, Dráuzio Figueiredo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zé Leal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Dalmo Cunha fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cruzeiro RS's protests and gave Dalmo Cunha a yellow card for diving instead. In the 30th minute, Dalmo Cunha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ian Abbott showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zé Leal in the 35th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Cruzeiro RS's Oséas Tasso got a free kick in the 37th minute. Gernando Barral's late challenge caught a Cruzeiro RS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zé Paulo Pombal made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Zé Leal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ian Abbott saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Leal in the 62nd minute of play forced Noviscky's goalkeeper Ian Abbott to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Noviscky's Gernando Barral got a free kick in the 66th minute. Cruzeiro RS made a substitution. João Augusto Vides replaced Oséas Tasso. After 67 played minutes Noviscky got a freekick which was hit by Gernando Barral. After 68 minutes of play, Cruzeiro RS's Zé Paulo Pombal made it 7-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ian Abbott was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zé Paulo Pombal in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ian Abbott prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In a very dangerous position, a player in Cruzeiro RS fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 73rd minute. Penalty! Eguen Armesto had in the 75thth minute some difficulties stopping Braedan Frew's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. After some careless play in the Cruzeiro RS defense, Braedan Frew kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eguen Armesto. The Cruzeiro RS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eguen Armesto should have stopped the shot. In the 78th minute Zé Paulo Pombal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ian Abbott saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Noviscky fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ian Abbott should have stopped the shot. After having played for 89 minutes, Fred de Barros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cruzeiro RS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fred de Barros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Zé Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Cruzeiro RS booed when Noviscky was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Percy Martins didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dalmo Cunha got his second yellow card in the match during the 94th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. There was no doubt that Cruzeiro RS were the better team. Cruzeiro RS's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
