Angelo Peruzzi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bebeto Romário in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adrian Pordea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 12 minutes into the match, U21 Brazil's goal looked a bit too open when Claudiu Bumba came free, but Angelo Peruzzi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bebeto Romário in the 13th minute of play forced U21 Romania's goalkeeper Adrian Pordea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. U21 Brazil's Caetano Velasco managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Iacob Urdoi in the 14 minute of the game. Cido Araújo's late challenge caught a U21 Romania's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After a rather tough play, U21 Brazil's Lisa Vara got a free kick in the 39th minute. Angelo Peruzzi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudiu Bumba in the 45th minute of the match. The supporters of U21 Brazil booed when U21 Romania was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudiu Bumba didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bebeto Romário stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. This resulted in a 2-2 score and a disappointed Adrian Pordea as he didn't even see the shot coming. Jonathan Calleri kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. In the 97th minute Robbin van Persie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrian Pordea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the U21 Romania players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
